Soccer star drafted by MLS and other links

The Columbus Crew drafted Paul Gerstenberger in the second round of the MLS draft. Congrats to Paul as he was key part of BC's 2007 ACC Championship.

The final portion of this article mentions BC guy Brian Flores as part of the next group of young turks being groomed for big things with the Patriots.

One of the last remaining 4-star BC targets Devon Custis eliminated BC from his recruiting mainly due to the coaching change.

Robert Francois is a player to watch in the Shrine Game.

Look for one or two BC names to emerge in the UMass coaching search.

A Bleacher Report article ranked BC as one of the worst (#2) cases of conference affiliation locations and thinks we should be back in the Big East:

One could play semantics and argue that we belong in the ACC more than anyone else in the conference (other than Miami)....Chestnut Hill is 6 miles from the Atlantic coast....Atlanta, Blacksburg and Clemson are each at least 200 miles from the coast

Logan gone per bceagles.com

Davon is full of crap. His decision has nothing to do with a coaching change at BC, unless he really has an affinity for playing for dishonest coaches. The guy is a defensive end, which means that he was going to be spending most of his time with Spaz anyway. If anything, with a defensive-minded guy running the entire ship, he should want to come to BC even more. 3.8 GPA my ass. Out of what? 20? He should have a great time going to no bowl games at NW or Stanford. F.

So why didn’t Custis want to stick with the Eagles? “I was in a similar situation in high school. During my sophomore year we got a new coach and it wasn’t easy. It’s always different and the transition isn’t fun. I didn’t want to go through that.”

What transition? YOU WEREN'T EVEN HERE YET!

Shouldn't a smartypants kid with a 3.8 GPA be able to handle little things like "transitions?" Please.

Booksmarts do not equate with other smarts.

Anyway, I'm surprised so many people are surprised. Did you really think this whole Jags saga would blow over with no effects?

Smartypants, booksmarts?!?!?! He got a 24 on the ACT! My ass could get a 24. Thats a UMass-Boston type score.

Sounds like a few people are bitter here??

I wouldn't be so sure about not going to a bowl game at either Northwestern or Stanford. I'm pretty sure NU did play Missouri this past year in the Alamo Bowl and Stanford is another recruitng class away from moving up the PAC 10 ladder to the top tier.

I guess we'll just have to see how things go when BC finally does play Northwestern or Stanford.
