Billy Flutie as QB and other links

Tuggle and Boek are the favorites to win the QB job, but Flutie is the only player on the roster to have thrown a touchdown. According to the latest, he is still in the mix for QB possibilities. At this point it sounds like Spaz is appropriately using the throw everything against the wall strategy. This is going to be an interesting season.

Future Eagle Joe Boisture impressed at a NFTC showcase in Illinois.

Kevin Armstrong wrote a great piece on the glory days of the Globe. One thing that is not mentioned is the Globe's history covering college sports. Did they have a BC beat writer in the 1970s?

If Calvin Johnson had a 5'0" child with a 6.0 second 40, we'd still give him a shot at wide receiver... That's all I have to say about that.

I think Billy Flutie is a "BC-Type, character guy" for sure. I think his place on the team remains as a versatile player, capable of playing WR, QB on occasion, holder (with options) for the PK, etc. But then again, I've never really seen him play quarterback.

My feeling all along has been that Justin Tuggle will take his Dad's advice and seize this opportunity. He certainly has the background to be successful at this level. Codi Boek may well emerge - who knows. Absolutely no knock on Billy, but I don't think it will be him - why string him along? Define a role for him and let him develop it to the best of his ability to help the team win.

As for Calvin Johnson, can you imagine what kind of numbers he would have posted for the Yellow Jackets if he had a quarterback who could pass at a high level, with consistency? I think Matt Ryan could have found him for a few TDs per game, if not per half!!!!!

What's the word on the street on Shinskie? Did we find a diamond in the rough here?
